Renewable energy deal wins Transaction of the Year

The biomass project at Rothes, Scotland sponsored by Helius Energy plc, The Combination of Rothes Distillers (CoRDe) and Rabo Project Equity has won the Renewable Energy Transaction of the Year at the Renewable Energy Infrastructure Awards 2011.

Pinsent Masons advised Rabo Project Equity on its equity investment into the biomass and CHP facility in Rothes, together with CoRDe (a joint venture of 7 distillers) and as part of a wider £60.5m project finance transaction backed by Lloyds TSB and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Commenting on the award win Robert Moir, Corporate Partner at Pinsent Masons and part of the firm's renewables team, commented: 'We are pleased to have worked for Rabo on this landmark deal, which is one of the largest biomass plants to date in the UK.'
