The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) and the Crime and Policing Act 2026 have fundamentally reshaped the landscape of corporate criminal liability in the UK.

The expansion of corporate attribution rules means that organisations face significantly greater exposure to criminal liability arising from the actions of senior managers, while the new failure to prevent fraud offence increases expectations on companies to identify and address misconduct effectively.

At the same time, regulators, prosecutors, auditors and other stakeholders are placing increased scrutiny on how organisations respond to allegations of wrongdoing. Questions about independence, scope, governance, privilege, reporting and remediation have never been more important.

In this webinar, we will explore the practical impact of these developments on the conduct of internal investigations, including:

  • The expanded corporate attribution regime and what it means in practice
  •  When allegations of misconduct require a formal investigation
  • Regulatory and enforcement expectations for internal investigations
  • Key legal and practical issues, including privilege, independence and reporting
  • Common pitfalls and how organisations can strengthen their investigations framework

Who should attend

The sessions will be relevant to legal, compliance, risk, internal audit, investigations and senior management professionals responsible for responding to suspected misconduct and managing corporate risk.
