Fintech Tables: From open banking to open finance: 6 years on where are we now?

It has now been over 6 years since the legislation to enable open banking took effect in the UK. What has been achieved and what remains to be done?

In the final instalment of the ‘Fintech Tables’ event series, Pinsent Masons are delighted to host an interactive panel session which will bring together industry leaders to share their views and open the discussion up to the room.

We will focus on open finance by:

  • looking back and reviewing what we think has been most successful over the 6 year open banking journey and what have been the biggest challenges
  • the current opportunities for innovation with open finance data and the use cases for which open finance is most attractive
  • regulatory and key stakeholder change on the horizon, including the creation of a successor to the open banking implementation entity,
  • the future role of the FCA in open finance, the potential for PSD3 in the EU and a broader changing UK approach to legislation, and
  • the broader picture – considering where open finance fits within the FCA’s focus on consumer duty, vulnerable customers, financial
  • resilience, well-being and protection against bias and discrimination and changes to payments infrastructure and the potential
  • introduction of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and Digital IDs.

The session will take the form of a moderated panel discussion with time for attendees to ask questions and provide comments. Drinks and nibbles will be served and there will be opportunities for networking.
