Global Infrastructure Webinar Series: Networks and Information Systems (NIS) Directive

In this 2019 global webinar series our Infrastructure experts from around the world will discuss a range of topical issues relevant to the sector, considering local and global perspectives.

In this webinar, our specialists from France, Spain Ireland and UK will discuss the impact of the NIS Directive and the steps the industry is taking to be cyber ready. The NIS Directive were heavily overshadowed by the introduction of GDPR. Our experience is that many companies are simply unaware of the Directive and the obligations placed upon them.

This session will cover:

  • The importance of ensuring Cyber readiness and ensuring board level buy-in.

  • The Network and Information Systems Directive place upon operators of essential services certain new obligations, including: the expectation to engage with the competent authority (such as BEIS, DFT, OFGEM or CAA)
    •  the need to take appropriate and proportionate technical and organisational measures to manage risks posed to the security of the network and information systems
    • the expectation to have undertaken an initial self-assessment of systems by early 2019
    • mandatory breach reporting to the competent authority
    • new potential sanctions, including fines of up to £17m.
  • What steps is the industry taking to ensuring compliance with the Directive.
  • What changes should be made to supply chain contracts.
  • Observations from our lead cyber partner’s recent secondment with the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ) where he was significantly involved in the implementation of the NIS regime within the UK.

Each webinar will take place at 8:30 AM GMT and 10:30 AM HKT. To register for one or more of the events in the series in your time zone, please select "Register" and choose from the menu.
