The plans include the transformation of 14 acres of riverside near Canary Wharf into an island neighbourhood comprising 1,700 new flats, waterside parks, bars and restaurants, a school, shops, artist studios and a private residents' club.
Ballymore said in a statement that the area would become part of the "vibrant creative and commercial economies of East London" and that the location would benefit from "major new business and innovation quarters" being developed nearby, including Royal Albert Dock.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson visited the Hong Kong exhibition for a preview on Friday. "I granted planning permission to this development," he said as he was introduced to the scheme, according to Ballymore.
"London City Island is one of the most important regeneration projects in London and we are very proud to be launching this weekend in Hong Kong," said Ballymore chairman Sean Mulryan.
