The plans for the 110,000 square feet site will include the demolition of the existing office building, which was previously occupied by Tate and Lyle, and the construction of a new 280,000 sq ft part nine-storey, part 11-storey building. The new building will comprise 165 luxury flats as well as shops, cafes and restaurants and office space on the ground floor.
CPC group, which is owned by Christian Candy, bought the site in February and in July it appointed architects Foster and Partners to draw up the plans for the scheme. The City of London has previously granted planning consent for a 230,000 sq ft office redevelopment on the site.
"The redevelopment seeks to address the potential of this part of the North Bank of the River Thames as a residential scheme, enhancing the vitality and character of the area whilst delivering an exceptional living experience in a prominent location in the City of London," said a CPC Group spokesperson according to reports.
"London architects Foster + Partners have been working with CPC Group on the redevelopment proposals following their appointment in July 2012. Close consultation with the City Planning Department, GLA and other stakeholders has also taken place," the spokesperson said.
