Christchurch Borough Council and East Dorset District Council have launched a consultation on their community infrastructure levy (CIL) preliminary draft charging schedule (PDCS).

The two councils have worked together on the development of CIL. However, there will be two charging schedules, one for each Council, to reflect the fact that they are two charging authorities.

The PDCS (11-page / 302KB PDF) sets out proposals for a charge of £100 per square metre for residential developments within both Councils. For care homes, the proposed charge is £40 per sq m.

For convenience retail developments, the proposed rate is £110 per sq m and a zero rate levy is proposed for comparison retail developments.

A proposed zero rate levy will apply to all other types of development.

The consultation will be open until 11 March.
