Rushcliffe Borough Council's development control committee resolved to approve a 1,050-home mixed use scheme at Bingham in Nottinghamshire. The scheme will also include a business park to provide around 1,000 jobs and a new primary school.
The Crown Estate said that the development would provide a £7 million investment in local facilities, a community centre, allotments and a community orchard.
The Council's head of planning said in the committee report (104-page / 5.30MB) that the development would create a "sustainable extension" to Bingham and that it would contribute towards meeting identified housing needs within the Borough.
Resolutions to grant consent were also given to an 87-home development in Skirlaugh by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and in Scotland, by Moray Council for a 50-home estate in Fochabers.
"Securing approval for these schemes is a major step forward for our rural portfolio and a much needed boost to the supply of homes," said the Crown Estate's strategic land manager Steve Melligan. "It demonstrates the importance we attach to supporting economic growth and the development of sustainable local communities across our land-holdings," he said.
Final approval of all three schemes will be subject to the completion of section 106 agreements with the local authorities.
