Ealing Council has granted planning permission to housing association A2Dominion and regeneration specialist Rydon for the construction of 187 homes as phase two of the Green Man Lane estate redevelopment in west London.

The second phase of the scheme will comprise three apartment buildings as well as 28 three-storey houses, with 61 of the new homes to be provided as affordable. It also includes the construction of a new walkway from the south to the north of the development.

The wider regeneration scheme, which was granted outline permission in 2010, will deliver over 700 new homes across four phases. In addition to the homes, it will also provide new facilities including a community café, enterprise units, green spaces and play areas. Phase one of the scheme comprises 176 homes and is set to complete early next year.

“This planning consent signals a new major milestone in the development of the Green Man Lane estate," said A2Dominion regeneration director David Price in a statement. "With the first phase nearing completion, the regeneration project is already beginning to transform this run-down 1970s estate and we look forward to progressing with this exciting next stage to deliver even more high quality homes.”

“Ealing Council’s unanimous support for this next phase demonstrates their continued confidence in our combined teams’ ability to design, develop and deliver these high quality, much needed new homes and community space for West Ealing,” added Rydon development director Tom Rigby.

Construction on phase two is expected to start in August 2014.
