London housing trust receives largest-yet affordable homes grant


Notting Hill Housing Trust (NHHT) has secured the biggest homes grant that has been agreed to date from the Homes and Communities Agency under the Affordable Homes Programme (AHP).

NHHT has been awarded £58 million under the AHP which will help the Trust deliver 2,310 new affordable homes across London.

Of the 2,310 that the NHHT will deliver, 1,244 homes will be for affordable rent and a further 1,066 will be available as shared ownership units.

London and the South East will also see the benefit from a £39m deal signed earlier this week with Swan Housing Association, which has agreed to deliver 1,500 news homes. Swan Housing Association has agreed to provide 1169 affordable rent and 331 shared ownership homes with the help of the funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.

In total, the Homes and Communities Agency has awarded a quarter of the grants available under the £1.8 billion Affordable Homes Programme, with almost £150m worth of deals awarded last week.
