According to the reports, Lister said that the review would be likely to include a "significant hike" in London's house building targets. He said that a survey is currently being carried out to identify the housing need in the capital and that he expected that number to be "circa 40,000 plus a year".
Lister said that in a "good year" housing completions would be around 27,000 below the existing target of around 32,000.
The comments follow the publication of the Mayor of London's "2020 Vision" document last week, which set out a need for an additional 400,000 homes in the capital over the next decade to meet population demands.
Lister said that a target of around 45,000 was needed to achieve "the 400,000 number that the Mayor is talking about". He added that the survey results would be published later this year.
The London Plan, which sets out the development strategy for the capital up until 2031 and forms part of the development plan for Greater London, was first published in July 2011.
