Mayor of London Boris Johnson has set up a new architecture, design and urbanism panel with Transport for London (TfL). Consultants in this area will be selected to be on the panel and be eligible for up to £30 million worth of work.

That work is expected to be procured through the new panel, which will run for three years from 2012 with an option to extend for a further year.

Bids to be part of the panel are currently being sought. The scheme is being managed by the Greater London Authority (GLA). The Panel aims to "promote quality architecture, public realm, urban regeneration and sustainable development in the capital".

Architects and design professionals are invited to apply for membership of the new consultants’ procurement panel. There will also be a joint GLA and TfL panel open to use by the London boroughs, housing associations and other public sector organisations involved with the built environment in the capital.

Consultants must complete an invitation to tender when it is issued in the summer and contracts will be awarded to successful bidders in October.
