A report in the East Anglian Daily Times said that the Saxmundham Town Plan Working Party will consult with residents about future development of the town.
The Working Party is made up of residents who want to ensure that the development of Saxmundham is in line with the needs and wishes of the local people. The Chair of the Working Party said that "like many traditional country towns [Saxmundham] must adapt and improve if it's to stay being a great place to live", according to the report.
The consultation will lead to the preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan and is being funded through a £6,200 grant from the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All scheme.
The Working Party plans to carry out the survey in Autumn and publish results in early 2013. It intends to present a report to the Saxmundham Town Council in Spring 2013 and, subject to resources, is hoping its recommendations will be adopted in a Neighbourhood Plan.
