Developer Henley Homes, owner of part of the former Lilian Baylis School site in Lambeth, has recently awarded design practice Conran and Partners a contract to regenerate the site to provide over 200 homes.
Conran will develop the site, which covers nearly three acres, to create a mix of refurbishmed, converted and newly built buildings. The phased regeneration project has an estimated gross development value of £60 million, according to a report in EGi.
A significant proportion of the homes will be designated as affordable housing and planning applications are anticipated for summer 2012.
Conran has on its books approximately 2,500 homes that are either being built pursuant to planning consent, about to go before planners or on the drawing board, for projects across London.
The Lambeth local authority has announced that it transferred the remaining half of the old school site to the Black Prince Trust in October 2011. The transferred site totals nearly two and a half acres.
The Trust will invest over £2mtowards improving and extending sports and community facilities at the site and, in conjunction with other community programmes, will ensure the provision of sports, health and community programmes for an initial three year period.
