The Council has proposed to divide its administrative area into two separate charging zones for residential developments.
One zone covers Newbury & Thatcham as well as the 'Eastern Urban Area' and is subject to a proposed rate of £75 per sq m. The other zone covers East Kennet Valley and the '"Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'" and is subject to a proposed rate of £125 per sq m.
For retail developments, the Council has proposed a flat rate of £125 per sq m. A zero rate levy will apply to all other types of development, including business development, hotels, residential institutions and community uses, if the rates in the DCS are adopted.
The proposed rates in the DCS remain unchanged from the rates set out in the Council's preliminary draft charging schedule, which it consulted on earlier in the year.
The consultation will be open for comments until 22 July. The Council said it expects to submit its charging schedule for examination in the autumn.
