Senior Practice Development Lawyer
Scheherazade is a dual-qualified Senior Practice Development Lawyer in the firm’s International Arbitration group.
Scheherazade's role is strongly market-facing with a focus on maintaining and developing the firm's International Arbitration practice across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. She is also responsible for the group's internal knowledge management systems, which includes key industry trends and legal developments in the arbitration arena.
Prior to joining Pinsent Masons, Scheherazade worked as an Investment Manager at a leading third party funder, specialising in the financing of international commercial arbitrations and investment treaty disputes. She has advised and represented clients under the rules of major arbitral institutions, including the LCIA, ICC, SIAC, as well as ad hoc proceedings in India. Scheherazade was Head of South Asia at the SIAC, where she led the business expansion plans for SIAC's first overseas representative office in India, engaging with legal practitioners, members of the judiciary, chambers of commerce and stakeholders. She has worked as an associate in the Construction and Engineering group at the London offices of a global law firm and is a published writer and speaker on international arbitration.
Scheherazade's professional experience representing individuals and corporations across 4 jurisdictions under the rules of major arbitral institutions, coupled with her extensive client and project management experience has given her strategic insight and an excellent overview of the nuanced workings of large, complex, cross-border disputes, and a proven track of developing strong working relationships globally.
Shy's practice covers project advice and dispute resolution and he has advised on UK and international infrastructure projects under various construction standard forms of contract, including NEC, JCT and FIDIC.
Mark specialises in patent litigation and other contentious IP disputes, which usually involve a cross-border angle.
