Jockey Club Racecourses, the UK’s largest racecourse group whose profits are reinvested back into Britain’s second biggest spectator sport, today announced a three-year agreement with leading international law firm, Pinsent Masons, to become its Official Legal Partner.

The agreement with the 15-strong racecourse group that includes Aintree, Cheltenham, Epsom Downs and Newmarket within its portfolio, will see Pinsent Masons granted preferred supplier status to Jockey Club Racecourses for all of its legal work.

As an Official Partner, Pinsent Masons has committed to support The Jockey Club’s racecourse arm in its mission to act for the long-term good of British racing. This will include identifying opportunities to create new business, build on existing revenue streams, share relevant best practice and assist the development of those working for Jockey Club Racecourses.

Paul Fisher, Group Managing Director, Jockey Club Racecourses, said:

"Pinsent Masons is the primary provider of legal services to Jockey Club Racecourses. We’ve had a great experience of their expert support across key issues and this new agreement will see us take our partnership to a new level, around a shared set of values. As The Jockey Club’s racecourse arm, all our profits go back into British racing to support its long-term health and prosperity, so it’s fantastic to have Pinsent Masons with us as a true partner on this journey, for the good of our sport."

Trevor Watkins, Global Head of Sport, Pinsent Masons LLP, said:

“Partnering with Jockey Club Racecourses is a key part of our strategy for growing our sports practice and we share their passion for supporting British horseracing. We are proud of our position as market leaders in advising in the business of sport both on legal issues and in providing strategic advice. We’ve enjoyed a long-standing relationship with stakeholders in the horseracing and equine industry globally and support many of the values that Jockey Club Racecourses have at the heart of their business. This is a natural progression for us and one that we are delighted to embrace.”
