Pinsent Masons advises IMServ on its acquisition of Astral Tech

29 Apr 2025 | 09:01 am | 1 min. read

Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has advised leading energy data provider IMServ on its acquisition of global energy technology business Astral Tech.

Backed by Bluewater private equity, IMServ is one of the leading providers of metering and data services to the UK’s energy, gas and water suppliers. It gives customers reliable access to energy use data, helping them to make informed decisions regarding their energy transition.

Astral Tech delivers advanced data-led software solutions for the global energy sector. With offices in the UK, the US and the UAE, the firm serves a global client base.

The Pinsent Masons team used its presence in both the UK and the UAE, and its expertise in energy transition technologies, to help ensure the transaction completed successfully.

Acquiring Astral Tech will help IMServ accelerate it becoming a global energy data powerhouse. Integrating Astral Tech’s unified data model will also allow IMServ to provide customers with a single data source covering meter readings, assets and customer interactions. This will help customers make smarter decisions and reach their energy transition goals faster.

Senior associate Ben Elliott led the Pinsent Masons team advising on the acquisition, supported by partner Chris Martin, head of our UK energy technology practice, and UAE-based senior associate Nathalia Elhage.

Commenting on the purchase, Ben Elliott said, “This is the first transaction where we’ve acted for IMServ and we’re delighted to have started our partnership with a successful purchase.

“Using data to make informed choices is becoming increasingly important to the energy transition; IMServ is well-positioned to achieve its global ambitions.”
