Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has hired three prominent energy sector partners to its Madrid office.
Hermenegildo Altozano, Alfonso Bayona and Juan De Navasqüés all advise both domestic and international clients on energy projects and transactions in Spain. This includes M&A, corporate power purchase agreements, project financings and all corporate transactional work.
All three join from Bird & Bird in Madrid where they developed a well-respected energy practice, led by Hermenegildo Altozano.

Hermenegildo Altozano will lead Pinsent Masons‘ energy team in Spain. He predominantly advises clients on M&A transactions and is well known in both the Spanish and Latin American markets. Alfonso Bayona and Juan De Navasqüés specialise in corporate, M&A and project work, mainly advising national and international companies within the energy and infrastructure sector.

Pinsent Masons has advised a number of landmark energy deals in Spain. In 2022, the firm advised long-standing client Ørsted on its entry into the Spanish market via a number of joint ventures. The team also advised Enagás on the sale of a minority stake of its subsidiary, Enagás Renovable.
The three appointments highlight the firm’s continued focus and investment into its global energy sector offering. Other recent notable hires include energy and planning partner Kirstie Richards and her team of two senior associates in Sydney (Australia), energy and infrastructure partner Jannie de Villiers in Johannesburg (South Africa), and energy and technology partner Joni Henry in Sydney (Australia).
