Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has won the Best Talent and Inclusion category at this year’s The Lawyer Awards.
The firm was recognised for its partnership with WorkFit, an employment programme developed by the Down’s Syndrome Association which brings together employers and job-seekers who have Down’s syndrome.
Led by a team comprised of individuals from Recruitment, HR and Responsible Business, the firm worked with WorkFit to identify what adjustments needed to be made to accommodate a job applicant with Down’s syndrome, and upon securing the position, what needed to be done to help them succeed in their role.
Jonathan Bond, Director of HR at Pinsent Masons said: “Unfortunately, many people living with disabilities continue to experience barriers and challenges when seeking employment. Research shows that only 6% of adults with Down’s syndrome and other learning disabilities in the UK are in paid work but our partnership with WorkFit has demonstrated that with minimal ‘flex’ a whole new talent pool has become available. Most importantly, Pinsent Masons has benefited from filling a vacancy with a deserving candidate.”
The firm was also highly commended for ‘Real Estate Team of the Year’ and commended for ‘Litigation Team of the Year’ at the awards.
