Cannock Chase Council has launched a consultation on its community infrastructure levy (CIL) preliminary draft charging schedule (PDCS) (9-page / 1MB PDF) with proposed rates of up to £60 per square metre.

The Council has set a draft rate of £40 per sq m to apply to all residential developments across its administrative area. The Council said it had chosen not to set area specific rates as its viability evidence had found no significant differences in viability within the main settlements in the district.

For food supermarkets and superstores as well as retail park uses, it has proposed a rate of £60 per sq m.

All other types of development across Cannock Chase will be subject to a nil rate levy under the proposals.

The consultation is open for responses until 10 January 2014. The Council said it hopes to consult on its draft charging schedule in the spring next year and to proceed to examination in the autumn.
