The City of London Corporation has set out proposals for its community infrastructure levy (CIL)  preliminary draft charging schedule (PDCS) in a report (9-page / 335KB PDF) to its planning committee.

The proposals for the PDCS (18-page / 750KB PDC) include the creation of a "Riverside" charging zone in which residential developments would be subject to a rate of £150 per square metre. For residential developments in the rest of the City, the proposed rate is £95 per sq m.

Office developments are proposed to be subject to a City-wide rate of £75 per sq m.

A zero rate levy will apply to educational and health related developments and all other uses are subject to a proposed rate of £75 per sq m.

In addition to CIL charged by the Council, any developments in the City will also be subject to Mayoral CIL. The Mayoral CIL charge in the City of London is £50 per sq m on all uses except for health and education purposes, which are exempt from Mayoral CIL.

The City's planning and transportation committee will discuss the proposals at a meeting on 26 February. The City said it expects to open its consultation on the PDCS in late March.
