The taskforce, which was set up last year in response to retail expert Mary Portas' review of UK high streets, aims to address the property aspects of Portas' recommendations. The taskforce is chaired by the British Council of Shopping Centres and comprises a number of industry experts from the banking, retail and property sectors.
According to reports Colliers said it would be looking at the "root causes" of town centre distress and help the taskforce to address the identified causes.
“A primary objective of the research will be to identify a range of robust solutions to assist in the repositioning of town centres to enable them to operate successfully within the new retail hierarchy,” said Colliers head of research and forecasting, Mark Charlton.
