The proposed regeneration project covers a 37 acre site which is adjacent to Coventry Train Station. Plans include 300,000 square metres of office-led mixed use development. The scheme would be developed by Friargate Coventry, in partnership with Coventry Council.
Plans for the scheme include 25 new buildings, which would comprise 14 new grade A office buildings, two hotels, new residential dwellings and "new vibrant streets".
Pedestrian routes are planed to be built across the City and there would be new high quality public spaces and the expansion and improvement of Greyfriars Green, Friargate said.
Outline planning permission for a revised masterplan was granted in 2013, following consultations with the 'Residents' Liaison Group' and an "extensive" traffic management survey. The development team is now working up more detailed proposals for the first phase of the development and the public realm, said Friargate.
It is hoped that work on the regeneration project will start later this year, with strategic phasing over the next 15 years.
