Developer calls for separate use class for private rented homes

The Chairman of Redrow plc Steve Morgan has called on the Government to give the private rented sector a use class of its own, Property Week has reported .

Morgan told delegates at a property networking group meeting that the private rented sector needs to be subsidised. Outside of London, building private rented homes does not "currently make financial sense," he said.

According to the report, Morgan said he was supportive of the Government's help to buy scheme. He said that the scheme could be a "game-changer" and that it would have an impact on volume across the industry going forward.
