Oxford City Council's community infrastructure levy (CIL) Charging Schedule has been recommended for approval (7-page / 86KB PDF) by an examiner.

Following an examination hearing in May, the examiner issued a report to the Council this month in which he said that the Charging Schedule provided an "appropriate basis" for the collection of CIL. He recommended that the schedule should be approved in its published form, without modifications.

If the Council adopts the Charging Schedule, residential and student accommodation developments within the city will be subject to a CIL rate of £100 per square metre. The same £100 per sq m rate will apply to developments for retail, financial and professional services, restaurants and cafes, drinking establishments and hot food takeaways.

Business use developments, hotels, residential institutions, non-residential institution, leisure developments and all other uses not listed in the schedule will be charged a rate of £20 per sq m.

The Council said that a report on the Charging Schedule will go before Full Council for approval on 30 September.
