Twenty-four year old Lynn Htun is believed to head the group – although nobody seems to be certain whether there really is a group or whether Htun works alone. What is clear is that the FBI has been interested in Fluffi Bunni for some time and it will be delighted by his arrest by UK authorities.
Fluffi Bunni's most famous work was shortly after the September 11th attacks. Fluffi Bunni hacked NetNames, a domain name registrar. Its exploit enabled it to post messages on thousands of web sites headed “Fluffi Bunni Goes Jihad.” A rant against the US was posted on the sites, together with an image of a small fluffy bunny at a computer screen. The FBI was not amused.
The Computer Crime Unit of New Scotland Yard arrested Htun on Tuesday on the completely unrelated matter of non-appearance in court in Guildford over forgery charges. Reuters reports that investigations into Fluffi Bunni are continuing, and may lead to further charges.
