Eight housing associations will benefit from the grants, which will ensure the delivery of a further 4,559 new affordable homes. The majority will be delivered in London and the south east, however the north will also benefit from a small proportion of the grants.
The most substantial grant was awarded to Network Housing Group (NHG), which owns and manages 17,000 homes, mostly across London and the east.
NHG was awarded a £33m grant, which will help deliver 1,519 new affordable homes across London and the south east. The grant will be used to deliver 1,090 new homes for 'affordable rent', whilst the remaining 429 homes will be made available for shared ownership.
Amicus Horizon, which manages over 28,000 homes across London, the south and the south east has been granted almost £22m under the AHP.
The organisation has said it will use the grant to develop 814 new homes across London and the south east. The project aims to deliver 580 homes for affordable rent and a further 234 homes for shared ownership, Inside Housing reports.
The One Housing Group, which also covers London and the south east, has been awarded a £13.5 million grant. The grant will be used to deliver 455 new homes for affordable rent with a further 171 homes for shared ownership. They will all be delivered across London and the south east.
Five housing organisations in the north have collectively been awarded a total of £33.8m under the HCA's AHP. The money will be used to deliver a total of 1,600 homes across the region.
Plus Dane was awarded £12m to develop 523 affordable rent homes and 69 shared ownership homes, A2Dominion has been awarded £8m to ensure the deliver of 238 affordable homes. Knowsley Housing Trust and South Yorkshire Housing Association were both awarded £5m to deliver 229 and 156 homes respectively. The smallest grant was awarded to Cross Keys Homes, which has received £3.8m to help deliver 385 affordable homes.
The HCA's AHP scheme has an allocated £1.8 billion to be redistributed to housing providers to develop more homes across the country. Following the latest contracts, the total grants awarded to date amount to £560m which will help provide an extra 28,000 new affordable homes.
