The London Legacy Development Corporation's (LLDC) planning decisions committee last week resolved to grant planning permission to the Neptune Group for an outline application for a housing scheme at a former industrial site near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London's E20.

The scheme, which will be delivered across four phases, comprises up to 522 new homes as well as 40,000 square feet of commercial space and a new primary school.

The 2.4 hectare Neptune Wharf site is located near the Hertford Union Canal within the Fish Island area of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The LLDC's planning officers said in the committee report (73-page / 974KB PDF) that the scheme represents sustainable development. "The development is predicted to result in a significant net increase in the number of jobs on site, which within the constraints of other policy priorities is considered to be of significant merit and support the overall mix of uses on this current industrial site," the report said.
