Planning application fees will rise by 15% on 22 November, the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has  confirmed.

DCLG chief planner, Steve Quartermain, has written a letter (2-page / 39KB PDF) to chief planning officers saying that the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications, Deemed Applications, Requests and Site Visits) (England) Regulations 2012 have been agreed in both Houses of Parliament and will come into force on 22 November.

Quartermain says that the increase is in "line with inflation since 2008".

The Regulations also introduce a small number of new fees, including for applications for Urgent Crown Development and a Certificate of Appropriate Alternative Development.

The draft Regulations were laid before Parliament in July. They consolidate 12 statutory instruments dating back to 1989.
