Under the proposals the existing 1950s building, which has been vacant since 2009, will be demolished to pave the way for the construction of two joined buildings reaching up to eight storeys in height and comprising 95 flats as well as 4,000 square feet of space for shops on the ground floors. 27 of the new flats have been proposed as affordable.
The architect behind the scheme, ColladoCollins said in a statement that the design of the proposed buildings seek to "enhance the visual amenity of the area and create a stronger visual statement on Chiswick High Road".
“Following a consultation period with Hounslow Borough Council and engagement with the local community, we are pleased to have submitted the application for the redevelopment of this vacant site," said a Telereal spokesperson. "As well as helping to meet the housing needs of the local community, the proposed plans aim to improve the visual amenity of this changing area”.
“Overcoming the challenges inherent in its location, this new building proposes a stylish residential solution that will really benefit the regeneration of the area," said ColladoCollins partner Roy Collado. "We’ve worked closely with local conservation groups and stakeholders to ensure this intelligent and thoughtful design is in keeping with the industrial heritage of the area.”
ColladoCollins said the Council is due to determine the planning application at the end of November.
