London Underground operations on the Barkerloo line will not be affected and any development would need to be built around the train depot, it said. The announcement follows a Southwark Council planning consultation on its draft Blackfriars Road supplementary planning document.
"The site represents an excellent opportunity to bring forward significant development in a sustainable urban location," said TfL. "To ensure the development aspirations for the site can be realised and a viable scheme delivered, planning policy support is required for a tall structure at this location."
