TfL Announces Plans for SE1 Tower

Transport for London (TfL) has proposed a major new development of a tower of up to 20 storeys on the site of TfLs London Road depot at St George's Circus.

London Underground operations on the Barkerloo line will not be affected and any development would need to be built around the train depot, it said. The announcement follows a Southwark Council planning consultation on its draft Blackfriars Road supplementary planning document.

"The site represents an excellent opportunity to bring forward significant development in a sustainable urban location," said TfL. "To ensure the development aspirations for the site can be realised and a viable scheme delivered, planning policy support is required for a tall structure at this location."
