Jonathan is a transactional construction lawyer specialising in the real estate sector with additional expertise in the infrastructure and energy sectors. He brings a pragmatic and collaborative approach, looking for win-wins in negotiation to achieve a successful development for all parties.
Jonathan has a key focus in Real Estate Construction with an depth expertise in the build to rent, later living, student accommodation, public-private joint ventures for residential and regeneration schemes and university sectors but with additional experience in infrastructure projects including ports and rail as well as experience in waste projects. In the Real Estate sector, Jonathan advises developers, forward funders and institutional investors on the construction and development obligations in development funding agreements, agreements for lease and sale agreements. He advises contractors on tender submissions and subcontract flow downs from main contract.
He has detailed experience in drafting and negotiating JCT and NEC contracts. Jonathan provides strategic advice to developers on their procurement routes for developments whereby he looks to get properly understand the client's key objectives to ensure these are achieved in the final completed development/scheme. The includes tailoring pre-construction services agreements and frameworks to best achieve an outcome based result appreciating that for many clients a whole portfolio approach to their developments is required to drive and achieve the best results.
