Kate Hainsworth

Kate advises corporate and trustee clients on all aspects of pensions law, with a focus on DB advisory work (including scheme restructurings, closures, mergers). She also specialises in risk transfer projects and scheme wind-ups.
Kate has many years' experience of project managing complex transactions designed to improve security and reduce risk within pension schemes. In particular, she has in-depth technical expertise in areas such as bulk transfers, scheme closures, insurer buy-outs and scheme wind-ups.
Kate is a member of the pensions risk transfer team, advising on all aspects of buy-in transactions (from preparing detailed insurer benefit specifications through to reviewing and negotiating bulk purchase annuity contracts). She also advises trustees on the process of moving schemes from buy-in to buy-out (including how trustees can best manage any residual risks) and winding-up the pension scheme at the end of that process.
