International law firm Pinsent Masons has bolstered its market-leading Environment and Energy team with the appointment of Environment partner Georgie Messent as a partner in its London office.
Georgie will join the firm's Planning & Environment practice to further develop the firm's UK and international capabilities in the environment and energy sectors.
She specialises in contentious and non-contentious environmental advice, and her experience includes advising private and public organisations on environmental and health and safety (EHS) regulatory matters and risk management. She has also been involved in defence of EHS/environmental prosecutions including contaminated land issues and built a substantial carbon practice advising on emissions trading and carbon law issues.
During her career to date Georgie has advised organisations in the chemicals, manufacturing, oil and gas, real estate, water and waste industries.
Commenting on the hire, Paul Rice, partner and Head of Client Relationships for the firm's energy sector team, said:
"Further developing our environmental law capability is a crucial aspect of our strategy. We want to provide unparalleled strength and depth across the energy and environment sectors and Georgie will play a major part in that. She has a strong track record and we are confident that - through our comprehensive UK platform and our international presence - we will give her plenty of scope to grow that further, both domestically and globally."
Richard Ford, Head of Planning & Environment at Pinsent Masons, says:
"Georgie is a first class Environment partner. Her huge experience adds significantly to our focus on major sectors including energy, manufacturing, real estate and infrastructure. Georgie is joining to head up the Environment team at a time where it is already one of the strongest in the UK and the team is pushing forward internationally. We are delighted she is joining us."
Georgie joins from Bond Dickinson where she has been a partner and solicitor advocate.
Georgie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) and the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA).
