Barratt Homes announced today  its fourth joint venture with London & Quadrant, and its first with British Land which will provide around 1,100 "much needed new homes for London". 

The joint venture between Barratt and British Land has secured planning permission for a scheme in Aldgate on the fringes of the City of London. The scheme comprises 463 homes, a 160 room hotel, in addition to retail and office space and includes three towers with over 20 storeys. This scheme has an estimated gross development value of £250 million and it is anticipated that work will begin in early 2014.

The joint venture between Barratt and London & Quadrant is a £425 million scheme to develop the Sainsbury's site at Nine Elms. It has secured detailed planning permission for 645 homes, a new supermarket and 27,000 square feet of retail and office space. It is the fourth joint venture in the Capital between Barratt and London & Quadrant.

These joint venture partnerships now have a gross development value in excess of £2 billion.

Mark Clare, chief executive of Barratt Homes, said: "We are planning to deliver 2,000 new homes a year in London and our technical capability to deliver complex schemes in the capital is providing us with a competitive edge in securing new business".
