The Council launched a consultation on the PDCS this week. As well as the borough-wide residential rate, it has proposed to set rates of £100 per sq m for hotels and £65 per sq m for student accommodation.
Retail developments will be levied according to size, with draft rates of £250 per sq m for schemes larger than 2,500 sq m, £100 per sq m for schemes measuring from 280 sq m to 2,500 sq m and a nil rate levy for schemes below 280 sq m.
Offices, industrial and warehousing developments and educational, medical and community facilities are all proposed to be subject to a nil rate levy. All other developments will be charged at £10 per sq m if the draft rates are eventually adopted.
In addition to CIL charged by the Council, any developments in the borough will also be subject to Mayoral CIL. The Mayoral CIL charge in Greenwich is £35 per sq m on all uses except for health and education purposes, which are exempt.
The consultation will be open for comments until 8 November. The Council said it hopes to implement CIL in the summer 2014.
