The London Borough of Hillingdon has requested that the examination of its community infrastructure levy (CIL) draft charging schedule (DCS) is suspended for six weeks while the Council consults on minor modifications to the schedule (28-page / 4.56MB PDF).

The Council had submitted its DCS for examination in March and the examination hearings had been due to take place in June. The Council has now requested a suspension of the examination and published a modified DCS for consultation.

The DCS sets out a proposed charging rate of £215 per square metre for large format retail uses falling within use classes A1-A5 and which cover an area greater than 1,000 sq m. The Council has modified the DCS to clarify that the proposed rate would apply outside of designated town centres only.

A proposed nil rate levy would apply to retail uses within the designated centres, including metropolitan, town, district or local centres. The Council has added a map to the DCS to show the designated centres.

The Council is consulting on the modifications until 9 August.
