International law firm Pinsent Masons advised VC investor eCAPITAL (Münster, Germany) on the growth financing of Sonnenbatterie, a portfolio company of eCAPITAL.
With this round of financing, Sonnenbatterie GmbH receives capital in the high single-digit millions from the investor INVEN Capital. INVEN Capital is thus backing the dynamic growth and the internationalisation of the specialist for intelligent energy storage systems, whose headquarters and roots are in the Allgäu.
INVEN Capital specializes in investments in the cleantech sector, with particular focus on renewable energies, energy efficiency and electric mobility. Apart from INVEN Capital, the Pinsent Masons Client eCAPITAL AG as well as Munich Venture Partners and SET Ventures are also among the investors in Sonnenbatterie GmbH.
The market for energy storage systems is growing rapidly. According to the industry association BSW Solar, the number of installed storage systems in Germany has doubled to 20,000 within one year. Given that also other countries find themselves at the beginning of this development, market researchers around the world expect high growth rates.
eCAPITAL AG is a Münster-based Venture Capitalist managed by entrepreneurs, which has actively supported innovative entrepreneurs in future-oriented industries since 1999. Its focus lies on fast-growing companies in the segments of renewable energies, renewable raw materials and resource-efficient processes, water technology as well as process engineering/new materials and IT. eCAPITAL currently manages five funds with subscribed capital exceeding €120m and it invests in companies which are in their "early stage" and "later stage" phases, as well as in small SMEs.
