The Council has proposed to set out five charging zones for residential developments with rates ranging between £0 per square metre to £220 per sq m. The highest rate of £220 per sq m is proposed to apply to developments in the 'Northern Parishes' zone and a rate of £220 per sq m is proposed at the Warfield Strategic Development site.
For residential developments in Crowthorne and Sandhurst, the Council has proposed to charge £150 per sq m, with a rate of £25 per sq m to apply in the 'Outer Bracknell' zone and a nil rate applying in the 'Central Bracknell' zone.
For residential care accommodation, a proposed nil rate will apply in Central Bracknell and Outer Bracknell, with a rate of £100 per sq m to apply in Crowthorne and Sandhurst and a rate of £150 per sq m to apply in the Northern Parishes and at the Warfield Strategic Development site.
Retail developments of more than 280 square metres will be subject to a nil rate under the proposals in the schedule and a rate of £95 per sq m will apply throughout the rest of the borough.
The Council has proposed to set a borough-wide £25 per sq m levy for hotel developments and a nil rate for office and industrial uses as well as all other development types.
The proposed rates remain the same as the rates set out in the Council's preliminary draft charging schedule (PDCS), which it consulted on last year, with the exception of the addition of the Warfield Strategic Development site as an individual charging zone. The site had been included in the Northern Parishes zone in the PDCS.
The consultation will be open for comments until 23 July.
