Francis advises clients across all areas of both contentious and transactional employment law, but he specialises in providing advice on equality and discrimination law issues, including trans rights, competing protected beliefs, and freedom of speech and academic freedom.

Francis works with multinational clients across a number of sectors, but he has particular experience in manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods, hospitality, and higher education.

Francis provides commercial, pragmatic, and tailored advice which strikes a balance between mitigating legal risk, achieving strategic business objectives, and ‘doing the right thing’.

Francis has extensive experience of defending household name employers against a variety of claims in the Employment Tribunal, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, and trade union detriment. Francis is also experienced in advising clients on senior exits, complicated grievance and sickness absence issues, and collective redundancies.

Francis has a particular interest in equality and discrimination law, including advising clients on the drafting and application of their trans right policies, and on how to deal with conflict when two or more employees have competing protected beliefs.
