Hillingdon Council gives consent for Hayes Old Vinyl Factory Development

The London Borough of Hillingdon has given planning permission for the next stage of plans to redevelop the Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes, West London.

The scheme, which is proposed by developers Cathedral Group and Development Securities, aims to provide 550,000 sq ft of offices, 642 homes, retail space and a live music venue. Vue Entertainment plans a multiplex cinema and restaurant units in a 50,000 sq ft building.

Purplexed LLP, the developers' joint venture, received detailed consent for the first phase of the project, the Gatefold Building comprising 132 apartments, a café/community space and 5 workshop units, in March 2012. The latest planning permission covers the majority of the remainder of the site and proposes to reuse the locally listed buildings to create a new mixed use community, which will be a thriving hub of employment and activity.

The site aims to provide 4,000 jobs, with a total of around 3,700 square metres of affordable employment space to be provided within the site to assist new business opportunities.

The Old Vinyl Factory, which housed record label EMI in the 1960s, has previously been the subject of planning applications, which have only been partly implemented. Cathedral Group and Development Securities aim to attract long term tenants.

"We have worked closely with local politicians and stakeholders at every stage of the process, and the positive and speedy conclusion of our planning applications confirms that we have proposed the right scheme for this much-treasured site," said Development Securities director Matthew Weiner.
