Rocket Investments Ltd has submitted a planning application to Hackney Council for a 39 storey residential tower and a 10 storey office building on London's City Road near the Old Street roundabout.

The plans include the demolition of Crown House on the site at 145 City Road and the construction of a 39 storey tower to comprise 302 flats as well as shops or cafes and restaurants on the ground floor. A 10 storey building will be built next to the tower with over 10,000 square metres of office space and further space for shops or restaurants at ground floor level.

Rocket bought the site in 2011 from Glanmore Property Fund. It is currently fully let to NIG, which is a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland. NIG's lease is due to expire next year.

Rocket was the developer for Linen Court, a 42,000 square feet office building on nearby East Road completed in February this year, as well as a 17-storey student tower also on East Road.
