Westminster approves first phase of Chelsea Barracks redevelopment

Westminster City Council's planning committee has resolved to grant planning permission for the 74-home first phase of developer Qatari Diar's masterplan for the Chelsea Barracks site in south-west London.

The proposals include the construction of three eight-storey blocks of luxury residential homes and two garden squares at the corner of Chelsea Bridge Road and Pimlico Road.

The wider masterplan provides for 448 homes, 123 of which will be provided off-site as affordable, as well as five acres of public squares, streets and gardens, a public sports facility, a medical centre and a community centre.

Subject to grant of planning permission, work on the scheme is due to commence later this year.
